Emergency Youth Shelter

Youth and Family Services operates a 12 bed shelter for children 0-18. The shelter is open everyday of the year and provides a safe, clean and supportive environment for children who are without a home.

Once a child or adolescent arrives at our shelter they are provided with the basic needs. Our clients are provided with warm meals and a decent place to stay. Often the children we receive come to us with little or no clothing. We provide them with items from our clothing closet. Those children with physical problems, either minor or more severe are given the medical attention they need. Some children have not attended school for some time and we ensure they have the opportunity for an education. If they are currently enrolled in one of our local schools we make arrangements to get them to that school. If children come from another town, we get them enrolled into one of the local schools and they are transported daily to school.

All of our efforts ensure safety and decent lives for our children who might otherwise find themselves in dangerous, dirty and even life threatening situations.

The children we serve deserve our unwavering support and efforts to provide them with the dignity, self-respect and self-confidence that can only be offered through our confidence in them as capable human beings.
